Description
This exceptional First Generation Colt Single Action Army revolver began its life in 1884 and has been thoughtfully restored to showcase the artistry and legacy of the Old West. Chambered in .45 Colt with a 7.5" barrel, this SAA features extensive scroll engraving across the barrel, cylinder, frame, and ejector housing—all executed over a tasteful punch-dot background in traditional American style.
The post-war replacement barrel retains crisp rollmarks, and the frame bears period-correct patent dates. A vibrant case-hardened finish has been reapplied to the frame, hammer, and loading gate, while the rest of the revolver has been masterfully refinished in deep Colt-style blue. Mounted with two-piece smooth ivory grips fitted with silver Colt medallions, the right panel is carved with a dramatic steer head—adding frontier character to this elegant showpiece.
Mechanically, the action holds at half-cock but not full-cock, and while the bore is bright with defined rifling, it may contain light pitting or hardened grease. Despite some minor evidence of prior pitting beneath the refinish on grip strap areas and cylinder faces, this revolver remains a stunning display of craftsmanship. A must-have for collectors of American firearms heritage.
